Detroit, Mich. — Pump prices jumped again. AAA said Monday that Michigan’s average for regular unleaded climbed 19 cents in seven days to $4.66 a gallon.
Compared with a month ago the statewide average is up 35 cents, and it is $1.73 above the same week last year. Filling a 15-gallon tank now costs roughly $70. AAA’s Adrienne Woodland said the move shows how tightly local prices track global oil swings.
Another Monday survey also put Michigan at $4.66, up 22.3 cents week over week. Detroit averaged about $4.60 across 1,734 stations — up 13.3 cents — among the cheaper markets statewide. Ann Arbor sat at $4.67.
Saginaw led the state at $4.74; Grand Rapids and Lansing were $4.73. Marquette was lowest at $4.34. The U.S. average was $4.29, a penny lower than last week.
AAA tied Michigan’s climb to stronger national gasoline demand — EIA data showed demand rising from 8.68 million to 8.76 million barrels a day while U.S. production slipped from 9.46 million to 9.34 million.
