Glendale, Ariz. — Dan Campbell opened his postgame remarks Sunday by dedicating the game ball to longtime radio play-by-play voice Dan Miller after Detroit’s 45-21 win over the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium.
Miller, the Lions’ radio voice for more than 20 years, was not in the booth for the road game after a death in his family on Saturday. Detroit Tigers announcer Jason Benetti filled in on the radio call.
Campbell called Miller salt of the earth and said the team loves and supports him. Jared Goff also grew emotional afterward, saying Miller is part of Lions culture and that his voice is Lions football.
Benetti told listeners the organization was thinking of Miller and his family. Miller has been the radio voice since 2005.
The dedication came after Detroit improved to 3-2 in Glendale before its Week 6 bye.
