CANTON, Mich. — A No Kings: Vote Early community gathering is set for Saturday, Oct. 17, in Canton to help people from Plymouth, Canton and nearby towns lock in a plan before Michigan early voting opens.

Belleville Area Friends Indivisible is organizing the event as part of a national Vote Early Day of Action. Neighbors from Canton, Plymouth, Belleville, Ypsilanti, Sumpter Township and Van Buren Township are invited, along with surrounding communities.

For the Nov. 3 general election, Michigan early voting runs Oct. 24 through Nov. 1 under the Secretary of State’s constitutionally required window. Absentee ballots are out now, and Oct. 19 is the last day to register by mail or online.

At 11 a.m., a short opening program starts in front of the township building, then information tables cover registration, ballot content and ways to get involved. Organizers say the sidewalk-and-lawn event goes rain or shine, with parking behind the administration building and in Heritage Park.

Plymouth and Canton share Plymouth-Canton Community Schools, and local organizers want eligible voters clear on early-voting choices before Election Day.
