DETROIT, Mich. — Metro Detroit starts the week warmer than usual before cooler fall air returns midweek, the National Weather Service says.

Highs Monday and Tuesday should run from 78 into the low 80s, with overnight lows between 60 and 65. Detroit’s October average high is 62 and average low is 44.

Monday’s Detroit high was expected near 78 with a low around 65 — well above the city’s normal Oct. 12 high of 64. Showers and isolated storms are possible Monday night.

Tuesday’s forecast calls for an 83-degree high and a 60-degree low (normal Oct. 13 high: 63), with plenty of sunshine before cooler air arrives.

Later in the week a cold front clears out and colder air fills in toward the weekend, with another low bringing more rain. Wednesday highs across southeast Michigan should sit between 65 and 72 (Detroit near 70, low about 52). Thursday highs look like 62–67, Friday 58–61, with weekend highs eventually falling into the 50s.
