DETROIT, Mich. — Cass Tech sits atop the southeast region in the newest geographic high school football rankings and remains in the Midwest Region Super 15 after another shutout.

Rankers split Michigan’s 83 counties into four boards. Leading Week 8: Cass Tech (southeast), East Kentwood (southwest), Mount Pleasant (northeast) and Sanford Meridian (northwest).

The southeast board covers Wayne plus Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw and nearby counties that hold more top teams than the north. Updates come weekly through the regular season.

In the Week 9 Midwest Super 15, Cass Tech blanked Detroit Renaissance 67-0 for a second straight shutout — five shutouts in seven games and only 28 points allowed all year. A City Championship game is Friday, Oct. 16.

Detroit Catholic Central also drew Midwest notice after stretching a 21-game streak with a late rally past Orchard Lake St. Mary’s. The Shamrocks erased a 14-point fourth-quarter hole for a 27-20 win and visit St. Francis de Sales on Oct. 16.
