Sudbury, Ontario — Ontario Hockey League officials suspended Detroit Red Wings draft pick Adam Levac indefinitely after a match penalty in Peterborough’s 7-3 loss at Sudbury on Friday night.
The Petes center drew a deliberate-attempt-to-injure call for charging and cross-checking late in the game. The league said the ban stays in place until a full review of the play.
Video from the final minute showed the hit coming after Sudbury had already put the game away, raising fresh questions about discipline for an 18-year-old still developing in junior hockey.
It is Levac’s second serious OHL suspension in less than a year after he sat eight games last season for a slew-foot and punches in a scrap with an Ottawa 67’s player.
Detroit took Levac 108th overall in the 2026 NHL Draft as a competitive edge forward — a reputation scouts linked to high-intensity NHL forwards — while he continues with Peterborough.
The OHL has not set a fixed length for the new ban, so Red Wings development staff are waiting to see how many games the league attaches after the review.
